Vale Dianne & Craig

Our long-time, much-loved kennel manager, Dianne, and her husband Craig were tragically killed on the morning of Good Friday in 2023, when a ute swerved into their lane on the Barton Highway as they drove into Canberra.
Dianne and Craig were valued members of the Yass community and they left behind four adult children and their beloved grandchildren.
Di’s calm and reassuring presence was a mainstay at Bendora and we miss her dearly. She always had kind words to say and a helping hand to give.
We interviewed Di as our kennel manager back in 2017 when we built this website, and these were her answers:
What do you like most about working at Bendora?
‘Working with a variety of animals, plus every day is different and the staff are amazing.’
Why do you love animals?
‘I have always been around animals – chooks, ducks, dogs, cats, guinea pigs and birds. It just feels natural to be able to work with them.’
How do you like to spend your time when you’re not at work?
‘Reading books and spending time with my grandchildren. Fishing on the river is pretty good too.’
What are your qualifications?
‘A Certificate II in Animal Studies, and a Certificate III in Companion Animal Services.’
What pets do you have at home and what are their names?
‘Five cats – Tigger, Eanie Meanie, Snow Ho, Little Girl and Yum Chow. Two dogs – Hooch and Ace. One horse called Sisto, and seven snakes, two lizards and lots of fish and birds.’
If you could be any animal, what would you be and why?
‘When I was little I wanted to be a horse but now I think probably a cat. I have five in the house. My cats have life pretty good.’

Farewell, Dianne and Craig. You are gone too soon.
May your spirits shine brightly and may you rest in peace.
